Timothy Akimanzi

Inima Arts Center

Timothy Akamanzi is the fifth-born in a family of six siblings who all eventually found their way towards art. Timothy’s introduction to the field was as a salesman at lnema, an art center and gallery founded and operated by his elder brothers. This exposure led Timothy to discover and hone his own skills and he is now an artist in residence at the gallery. Naturally drawn to the dramatic topography of the “land of a thousand hills” Timothy’s art faithfully communicates his fascination with the iconic beauty of his homeland. While commonly said to resemble aerial landscapes, Timothy’s pieces convey the wide-ranging emotions we all go through in our day-to-day lives. In turn, like the Rorschach’s tests to which they have also been compared, this art is designed elicit a multitude of interpretations, all of which the artist is always keen to discover.
